About the Artists

Jamelia Chan , Violinist. formerly held the Mary Price Ratrie Concertmaster chair of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (USA)for the past 10 years.Recent highlights include playing Scheherazade under Gerard Schwartz; performing as orchestral soloist in Mozart's Concertone for Two Violins and John William's Three Pieces from Schindler's List; featured as soloist in Grant Cooper's orchestral work Appalachian Autumn; recitals in VA and WV, USA;

As concertmaster, Amelia has earned high praises from renowned conductors across the Atlantic such as Michael Tilson Thomas, Manfred Huss, Sergiu Commissiona, Theo Alcantara, George Manahan, Elizabeth Schulze, Anton Coppola, Zednek Macal, Graziella Contratto, Jorge Mester, Julius Rudel, Grant Cooper, and Gerard Schwartz. She has also performed extensively with the New York Philharmonic. Amelia's performances have been heard on WQXR, New York; WQED, Pittsburgh; West Virginia Public Radio; Scottish Radio, Scotland; and Radio 4, Hong Kong. She has been a recording artist for the Carnegie Hall education website.
A devoted educator, Amelia Chan is on the faculty of the West Virginia State University, and has given masterclasses in universities and schools in the US, Hong Kong, and China. With the Montclaire String Quartet.
Amelia started learning the piano with her father John Chan, and began her violin study at the Junior Department of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She holds degrees from the Mannes College of Music and Manhattan School of Music. Her teachers have included Thomas Wang, Alice Waten, Albert Markov, Shirley Givens, Lisa Kim, Yoko Takebe, Sheryl Staples, Glenn Dicterow, and double-bassist Julius Levine. Amelia plays on a violin made by Luthier Stefan Bauni.

Jin Matsuno , Violinist was born in Osaka, Japan. He started to learn the violiin at the age of eight and his debut concert when he was thirteen. He studied at Kyoto Municipal College of Arts under Professor R. Iwabuchi. During his college years, he gave recitals and chamber music concerts throughout Japan. With his skill and talent, Jin Matsuno has become one of the most exciting violinists in Japan. Jin Matsuno from Osaka Japan hasover 2,000 members in his fan club throughout Japan. He has performed extensively in Europe and Asia including Germany, U.K. Poland and many former cities in Soviet UnionRepublic. In Asia including Taiwan and many cities in China, South Korea , Singapore and Thailand. Mr.Matsuno has performed for hundreds of charity concerts and received widely critical acclaim.

Kanae Furomoto studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, firstly with Lois Phillips, and later with Hamish Milne. She was awarded several prestigious prizes and scholarships inside and outside the college, and gained the M.Mus. from the University of London. In 1999 she was chosen as a soloist for the PLG Young Artist Concert Series to appear at the Purcell Room in London.Among the many prominent artists she played with are the cellists Maria Kriegel and Adalbert Skocic and Yoko Hasegawa, the violinists Jin Matsuno and Narimichi Kawabata and the soprano Charlotte de Rothschild, to name only a few. She has given performances in a number of countries in Europe, South East Asia and in the USA, as well as within the UK and her native Japan. Her performance with the violinist Mina Tanaka at the Tokyo Furtwangler Fest in 2011 was highly acclaimed.
